History

Darkhan-Selenge Electricity Distribution Network Joint Stock Company was founded in 1965 as the Department of Electricity Transmission Network of Darkhan and Selenge provinces.

In 2001, by Resolution No. 164 of the Government of Mongolia, the Department was transformed into Darkhan-Selenge Electricity Distribution Network (DSEDN) Joint Stock Company.

The company became privately owned through an open tender process, as outlined by Resolution No. 14 of 2003 of the Government of Mongolia and Resolution No. 454 of 2003 of the State Property Committee.

DSEDN JSC employs 445 staff members and operates under nine special permits and licenses granted by the Mongolian Ministry of Energy, the Energy Regulatory Commission, and the Mongolian Agency for Standardization and Metrology.

Major Upgrades

  • 6kV RP-1, RP-2, RP-8, RP-9, RP-10 switchgears were completely renovated
  • 35/10(6) kV Khongor, Zaamar, Tunkhel, Jims, Altanbulag substations were fully renovated
  • Constructs approximately 100 km of 0.4–35 kV overhead power lines each year

Overhead Line Upgrade

Since 2010: UKSH-9/12 concrete poles, SIP & SIP-3 wires, polyethylene insulation. First in Mongolia to use new 35 kV technology in 2022, reducing costs 3×.

Eco-Friendly Electric Vehicles

To reduce greenhouse gas emissions, DSEDN JSC has been upgrading its fleet with electric vehicles since 2022. The company now uses fuel-efficient and environmentally friendly Nissan Leaf electric cars to respond to customer requests and fulfill daily operational requirements.
